Welcome to Bob Gilmore's Radio & Airchecks
Home Page!
I
t was a pleasure to put this page together full of radio memories. My favorite radio listening years is the late 60's through the late 80's. The Oldies and Top-40 radio stations are my favorites. Thank goodness there were people recording the radio back in the 60's when I was too young to own a tape recorder. In the 1970's, I started airchecking and have continued since, but have been trading my airchecks for only four years. It's a lot of fun. I have found that smaller trades are more fun than large ones. It's better because there's real quality time to listen to them and still have time for dubbing.I grew up in the 60's, and started working in radio in 1976. My first commercial job in radio was at 1450 WNAB in Bridgeport, CT. Over the years I worked at several stations in Connecticut. Currently I work on the air part-time Sunday mornings for
WEBE 108 in Connecticut. It's an Adult Contemporary format and helps me to keep in touch with my announcing skills. My full time job takes me to the Big Apple where I work as Senior Broadcast Engineer for the ABC Radio Networks.Amateur Radio is another hobby for me. My call sign is
WD1M. This is something that I have been involved in since the mid 80's. I was quite active in Dx-ing and even went to Iceland a couple of times to operate from there. It's just another radio outlet for me.Enjoy the hobby of airchecking, it's a great way to bring back some memories of the past. Start digging in those attics and basements for those old tapes! If you find some decent Top-40 radio in decent shape and not edited, let me know, I may be interested! Here's
My Want List. I'm sticking with this list and only accepting high quality recordings at this point. No large trades. I have very little time to do them. This site updated Sept 17, 2007
Note:
I'm no longer doing trades unless it's on my want list, high quality recordings and must be unscoped.Be sure to scroll down for the links into my site.

About My Lists
My lists are constantly growing almost on a daily basis. I try to add information to airchecks that are without a date or DJ. These are most important. If you have a special interest in an aircheck without the full info, let me know and it will be the next one on my "listen to" list. Then I can give you the information and update that aircheck or post it on my web page.
My lists have as much available information on each tape as I can get. I have been adding DJ's names, format and quality. This will help all of us in making decisions on a particular aircheck. Nobody wants to get a poor quality, one channel, hiss aircheck tape. If I get one of these, I try my best to re-master it. Then I may be able to upgrade the quality. A few airchecks have been so bad I never bothered to list them. There are a few poor quality tapes listed, but they are marked. If a date isn’t listed, It may have one in the future. If you see
"TBD" on an aircheck listing, this means "to Be Determined" under that particular column. This past year I have made great progress getting names and dates to go with the airchecks.Sometimes a DJ’s name will be spelled wrong. This can happen when I take a stab at the spelling, or if it were pronounced poorly by the DJ. If you see any, and know the correct spelling, let me know so I can update the file.
All airchecks that have a "
* " listed near the tape number, means it's not the original master.![]()
