ü       Into yourself & tell students that as a fire prevention person your job is to teach everyone about fire safety. (Mention nursery school to seniors - people at work, parents, etc.

ü       This year all of you are going to help us, and I will tell you how in a minute.

ü       Fire Safety is 2 different things.

1.       Fire Prevention & 2, Fire Preparedness

ü       Ask a student to define.  (They will define or give and example.  Either way that is ok.) - Try to keep from happening.

ü       Ask for a couple of other examples or give some.

ü       Ask student to define Prepare. - get ready

ü       Ask for examples or give some

 

 

Poster contest

ü       Tell 4th & 5th they are going to help by participating in the poster contest.

ü       Tell them that this is a City & State contest with a winner from each school that could go on to the state.

ü       There will be prizes & awards ceremony at City Hall.

ü       Tell them teacher will go over rules & detail, but you what to discuss a couple things.

ü       Hold up winning poster.  Ask kids further away to say why it stands out.  (Emphasize bold colors, big clear letters & picture, words match the picture in terms of message and the fact it is easy to understand the message quickly.

ü       This is why she won.  Mention calendar of all county winners is published & pass around.

 

Essay PSA Contest

3 min.

Plaque in box.

ü       PSA = public service announcement

ü       Teacher will go over rule.

ü       Essay is short.

ü       Only 1 essay per classroom. (All can do & vote, group effort, class and /or teacher decide.)

ü       Awards for classroom & individual at ceremony at City Hall.

ü      The prized plaque from last century, the 1900's
